UKA AGM – August 2024

On Saturday 17th August the UKA held its AGM at Summer School, in Florence Boot Hall. The following headlines were shared with members:

  • Membership has increased in the last year
  • The financial position has improved
  • One, additional new club in 2024
  • The course schedule and guest teachers for the next two years were shared.
  • The committee have delivered on 4/5 objectives set out last year:
    • Helping clubs grow with advertising
    • Have professional ads created
    • Create a new joiner journey
    • Improve the profile of the UKA and clubs with a new website
  • The fifth objective of a UKA club joiner process is still underway.
  • Objectives for the next year are:
    • Continue to help clubs with growth and advertising.
    • Promote aikido and the UKA to the public and other aikido organisations.
    • Improve connection between clubs and organisation.
    • Develop teachers & instructors.
    • Develop UKA leaders.

The committee also said we need help from members with new roles, specifically a Course officer, Communication lead, social media lead and Dojo engagement lead to ask clubs how we can help them.

Rich Hughes was nominated and approved as the General Secretary for the next two years.

A number of actions were collected from attendees to ensure our official documents and those mentioned above are on the website.
